Our Team
Our unique setting has an incredible team of people and they are by far our biggest asset. All are DBS checked and between them hold an impressive portfolio of qualifications and experience. Many are Forest School trained, all are first aid trained and over half are educated to degree level. At Diggers we regularly update our training matrix so that we all have the opportunity to undergo CPD along with regular refresher workshops on important matters such as safeguarding.

Four of our team hold Forest School qualifications
We think this may well be a world record for an individual setting. Plus, two are currently training as Forest School leaders. We don’t do Forest School, we are a Forest School.
At Diggers we are a self-reflecting team with everyone involved in the process of continuously improving the school, teaching and learning for the benefit of the children who attend. Regular reviews and reflections give us an opportunity to discuss, plan and strengthen the bonds further.
We know we expect a lot from our team. Add to that, the constant changes in weather, the heavy rucksacks, never mind the mud; it all makes working at Diggers quite a challenge. The fact that they are always more than keen to be outside whatever the weather makes us appreciate them even more.

Here is what the children say about our team
“Ruby’s my best friend.”
– Archer
“Liber is nice and she is kind, she makes up silly words and I laugh.”
– Freddy
“I like Alba and Mrs B because they give the best cuddles.”
– Astrid
“Alba is unicorns and horses. She is my best friend cos she is lovely and talks about important things I need to look at.”
– Luna
“Mrs B is funny, happy and makes me feel good. I like her doing the fires.”
– Archie
“Caroline is my favourite, I like digging with Caroline and taking things home, she’s good and funny.”
– Sol
“At Diggers the grown-ups are always telling me exciting things.”
– Bart
Ashley Hopkins
Manager
Hello, my name is Ashley,
Firstly, I’d like to welcome you to Diggers Forest School; we are comprised of passionate and dedicated individuals, who as a team are committed to early years education, experiences and opportunities.
I have always been passionate about outdoor experiences and opportunities in early years. Being a forest and beach school leader allows me to utilise my skills in a multitude of environments. Every day I am able to share my love for the natural world, promoting our connection with nature and appreciating the world around us.
