Duncan the Dragon
Duncan the dragon has very much become part of Diggers since he first arrived from Norway one cold and windy night. The forest school children love having their very own dragon, especially one that is so full of kindness. They’ve even made him his own picture for self-registration!
Sometimes the children hear Duncan snoring as he sleeps, so they tip toe past in the forest so as not to wake him. But this is never on a Tuesday as that’s when Duncan goes to the library and to do his shopping. When he’s back he likes to climb the chalky hill before the children arrive and hide surprises for them to find, leaving footprint trails in the mud for them to follow.
When Duncan gets a cold, we collect his sneezes to make him feel better. These are used to light our campfires with an “Achoo!” and then we all enjoy warm milk and snacks.
Buy the Broken Tile Book
This is the story of a very friendly dragon who goes in search of a tasty vegetable snack. Follow the story as Duncan the dragon steps out of the front door of his cosy cottage and is lifted into the air by a gust of wind. It takes him all the way from the Norwegian mountains to the south of England. Poor Duncan lands on a roof top, with such a bump he breaks a roof tile and wakes the sleeping occupant. Duncan is shown kindness and an offer of help to find a new home with the residents of the forest. But first he must eat before his rumbling tummy wakes anyone else!
